Kate Hillard
Since childhood, I have always been motivated by creativity and curiosity. I’m sure I frustrated my parents by taking things apart to find out how they worked, or spending hours at a time pouring my heart into a piece of art instead of doing my chores. It is with this same love and dedication for art that I approach all of my work.
After three years of schooling at Georgian College in the Jewellery and Metals program, I graduated in 2020 as a certified Goldsmith. During this time, I also got a job at a little shop in downtown Orillia called Perfect Timing, where I spent four years learning everything I could about the art of clock making. When the owners announced their retirement, I knew that I couldn’t give up this job that I fell in love with, so I am continuing to work from my home studio to help keep this dying art alive.
Now, using both my skills as a goldsmith and a clock technician, I have fallen into a job I have dreamed about having since I was a child. I would love to be able to work with any customer to help restore an old family clock or create a one-of-a-kind piece that they will absolutely love!
